Es uno de mis ídolos. Ex cantante y guitarrista de los maravillosos Georgia Satellites, este hombre rockea como pocos. En sus visitas a Barcelona, con los Yayhoos o ese split de los Sats (él y Mauro Magellan, sin Rick Richards ni Rick Price) al que llamó The Heart of the Georgia Satellites, ha dado una lección de cómo cantar, cómo tocar la guitarra y cómo llenar el ambiente de puro rock’n’roll.
Y sobre todo, en sus ya más de 25 años en el negocio, Dan Baird ha dado sobradas muestras de autenticidad. Durante unos meses fue uno de los reyes del rock en América (el debut de los Georgia Satellites llegó al nº 1 en el Billboard, pero entonces llegó Michael Jackson con su Bad y el mundo entero perdió el norte) y él ni se inmutó. Desde entonces ha llovido más estando Baird a la sombra que bajo el sol del éxito pero no le ha afectado en absoluto. Su música y su optimismo son contagiosos.

Dan Baird & Homemade Sin han editado nuevo disco y ello es motivo de jolgorio y alegria. Tiene un MySpace como todo bicho viviente y en él nos resume su historia con su peculiar sencillez:

ok then – my name is dan baird and i’ve been fortunate enough to have made my living with music. played a bunch around my hometown of atlanta in my younger days and got the brass ring with the georgia satellites (you can read all about that somewhere else, i can’t type that long, but it was a real good band for quite a while, and still may be). we played together for 10 years and i up and left for a solo gig (can’t quit that one) that i was still at until this last year, when i threw in with keith christopher, mauro magellan and warner hodges.
going back and forth on the name of the combo and decided on dan baird and homemade sin. might sell another 30 cds with my name up front.
also trying to help people and bands make records. i’ll wait and call it producing when the massive 6 figure advance checks come rolling in. same gig, different address, if ya know what i mean. but i sure do like doin’ it.

anyway that’s the public side of me. the private side loves my wife, my friends, free on line poker, the braves, home life, great music and movies, dogs, the titans, good italian food, denmark in general, captian crunch late at night, this little place in switzerland where the light……………… i’m like everybody else, just louder.
